Stephen Gomperts, MD, PhD

Stephen Gomperts, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. He received his MD and PhD in Neuroscience in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of California, San Francisco. After Neurology residency in the Harvard Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, he completed clinical fellowships in Memory Disorders and Movement Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital and post-doctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the founding Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Lewy Body Dementia Unit and cares for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, and Parkinson disease. His translational and clinical research programs exploit neurophysiology and molecular imaging to advance understanding, improve diagnosis, and develop and evaluate novel therapeutic strategies for these diseases. Ksenia Kastanenka, PhD is an Assistant Professor at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She runs a research laboratory investigating circuit disruptions underlying Alzheimer’s disease and mechanisms of action of therapeutics using animal models. She received her PhD in Neuroscience at Case Western Reserve University. She completed post-doctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital before pursuing independent research career.
