Rudolf Fuchshofer, PhD
Prof. Dr. Rudolf Fuchshofer is assistant professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology at University of Regensburg. He studied biology at the University of Saarbrücken and at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. He graduated from the laboratory of Prof. E. Lütjen-Drecoll and Prof. Rohen at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. After graduation he moved to the University of Regensburg to join the group of Prof. Ernst Tamm. After receiving the Lasker/IRRF-Investigator Exchange Award, he worked at the laboratory of Prof. Harry Quigley at the John Hopkins University in 2011. In 2016, he worked as a visiting professor in the laboratory of Prof. Mark Johnson in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Northwestern University.
His main research interests are the molecular functions of growth factors in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. His group is using cell culture systems and transgenic animal models to understand the pathologic mechanisms.
