Rohini M. Nair, PhD

Dr. Rohini M Nair is originally from India, and she obtained her Master’s degree in Human Genetics from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Hyderabad, where she trained under the mentorship of Prof. Geeta Vemuganti. During her doctoral studies, she investigated the characteristics of cancer stem cells in Retinoblastoma (a childhood retinal cancer) using in-vitro techniques and an in-vivo xenograft animal model. For her postdoctoral training, she joined the laboratory of Dr. VRM Chavali, at the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pennsylvania (USA). Her research focuses on unraveling the role of lipid metabolism and related genes in the pathogenesis of AMD.
