Living with glaucoma often means navigating complex information and unanswered questions. In this chat, Dr. Poonam Misra, a glaucoma specialist and fellowship co-director at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, will address some of the most common questions listeners have shared over the past year—from treatment options and lifestyle considerations to the latest educational resources.

Dr. Poonam Misra is a Glaucoma specialist at Manhattan Eye, Ear, Throat Hospital of Northwell Health, where she is also the Co-Director of the Glaucoma fellowship. She completed her Glaucoma Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in 2019 after her residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Misra received her BS with a major in Biology and minor in Philosophy from the Boston College, College of Art & Sciences Honors Program, in 2010, and her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2014. Dr. Misra was previously in the NYU Department of Ophthalmology as a full-time member of the Faculty Group Practice, as well as a resident educator and Associate Chief of Ophthalmology at Bellevue Hospital from 2020-2024. In her clinical practice, she focuses on adult glaucoma, comprehensive ophthalmology, and cataract surgery.  She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Women in Ophthalmology. She has a particular interest in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Misra also volunteers as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
