Biography
Carl combines a background in neuroscience research and scientific storytelling along with experience working in a variety of government and nonprofit organizational roles. He most recently served as a science writer and editor at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), part of the National Institutes of Health. He’s also held scientific and science communication roles at the American Association for Cancer Research and the International Society for Stem Cell Research. He received his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh and his doctoral degree in neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medical College with a dissertation on the origin and specification of cortical interneurons in the developing mammalian brain.
