Patsy Nishina, PhD

Dr. Nishina has a long history of generating mouse models, studying the genetic underpinnings of retinal diseases, and distributing these models to the research community without restriction. While the focus of her program has been on monogenic retinal diseases, she is most deeply interested in understanding how genes interact to allow for normal function or to cause a pathogenic environment. With the current technological and analytical advances, her lab is well-positioned to take a deep dive into the cellular/molecular/genetic interactions and pathways/networks leading to complex diseases, such as AMD.
