Leah VandenBosch, PhD
Dr. Leah VandenBosch is a postdoctoral fellow in the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Seattle Children’s Research Institute. She received her BS in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development from the University of Minnesota, studying the role of epigenetics on development in Drosophila under Dr. Jeffrey Simon. Later, she received her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington, where she studied in the lab of Dr. Thomas Reh focusing on epigenetic changes occurring during the development of the mammalian retina as it relates to potential regeneration of neurons. She now works in the lab of Dr. Timothy Cherry studying development and disease in the human retina. Her current work focuses on the application of machine learning to predict how sequence variations may functionally impact the activity of genomic regions that regulate gene expression.
