Yuanyuan Wei

Dr. Yuanyuan Wei is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she works with Dr. Chao Peng and Dr. Wei Wang. She received her B.Eng. in Precision Instrument from Tsinghua University and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she was awarded the Hong Kong SAR Government Talent Development Scholarship. Her research integrates artificial intelligence, computational biology, and experimental neuroscience to accelerate therapeutic discovery for Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. She develops fibril-specific AI models to the unique molecular architecture of pathological tau aggregates. Using these approaches, her team has screened more than 53 million compounds and experimentally validated top candidates in primary neuron models seeded with patient-derived tau aggregates. Dr. Wei’s broader research interests span AI-driven drug discovery, neurodegenerative disease diagnostics, droplet microfluidics, computational bioassays, and integrated biochemical assay systems. She has authored 22 peer-reviewed publications, including 12 as first/corresponding author. Beyond research, she serves as Vice-Chair of Communications for the UCLA Postdoctoral Association Executive Board and is a UCLA Bioscientists of Tomorrow Fellow.
