Sanchez-Molina

Dr. Sanchez-Molina is a postdoctoral fellow in the Blurton-Jones Lab at the University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on the role of immune cells in neurodegeneration. She earned her B.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Seville and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. During her doctoral training, she studied the role of microglia in aging using genetically modified mice with different brain microenvironments. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Oregon Health & Sciences University, where she leveraged novel spatial and single-cell technologies to characterize microglia and peripheral immune cells in postmortem brains and blood samples from Alzheimer’s disease patients. Currently, Dr. Sanchez-Molina investigates how distinct myeloid cell populations contribute to Alzheimer’s disease using human stem cell-based approaches and xenotransplantation mouse models.
