Biography
Dr. Maryam Shoai is a Senior Research Fellow in Statistical Genetics at UCL’s Queen Square Institute of Neurology, concentrating on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Her expertise lies in designing analytical frameworks and statistical models to understand complex clinical and genetic data. Notably, Dr. Shoai co-authored a pivotal study demonstrating that the clinical presentation of Alzheimer’s is distinct from amyloid burden, thereby challenging existing assumptions in the field. In the current research project, she is central to directing the analysis of genetic data from thousands of AD patients, with the goal of uncovering genetic factors that influence the disease’s progression.
