Biography
Dr. Anastasi is a researcher with expertise in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and a strong interest in the molecular mechanisms underlying heterogeneity in Alzheimer’s disease. Her work aims to understand why individuals experience different patterns of cognitive decline and disease progression. She holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies and obtained her PhD from the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa, Italy), where she developed proteomic approaches to investigate circulating vesicles for biomarker discovery in neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration. Dr. Anastasi is currently based at the Barcelonaßeta Brain Research Center, where she leads proteomic studies focused on understanding the link between aging and neurodegeneration. She is also a Visiting Fellow at Amsterdam UMC, studying Alzheimer’s disease heterogeneity through large-scale proteomic analyses. In addition, she collaborates with the Centre for Genomic Regulation (Barcelona) on the development of novel mass spectrometry methods for protein detection in biofluids.
