"With more and more people living longer, I became increasingly concerned about the quality of life for the aging population, including myself. The impact that neurodegenerative diseases have on the individual and his or her loved ones can be devastating–emotionally, physically, and financially. Through service on the BrightFocus Board of Directors, I felt this was an exceptional opportunity to devote my time and energy to BrightFocus' mission to support scientific research aimed at finding effective treatments, and eventually cures, for the diseases that BrightFocus has dedicated itself to–Alzheimer's, macular degeneration, and glaucoma."
