Glaucoma 101: Exploring the Science Behind This Sight-Stealing Disease

Join Dr. Qi N. Cui as she explains the science behind glaucoma, a leading cause of vision loss. This program will explore the key mechanisms of optic nerve damage that leads to vision loss, the role of elevated intraocular pressure, and innovative research aimed at developing new treatments for glaucoma.

Dr. Cui is a board-certified and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania. She attended medical and graduate school at the University of Rochester Medical Scientist Training Program. She completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Francisco followed by a surgical glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Cui is involved in both clinical and basic science research. The Cui lab seeks to understand pathogenic mechanisms contributing to glaucoma and identify novel therapies for glaucoma.
