Navid Amini

Navid Amini, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at California State University, Los Angeles, and Director of the Machine Learning and Sensing Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he also completed postdoctoral research in glaucoma and low-vision rehabilitation at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. His research focuses on wearable sensing, mobile health, data analytics, and assistive technologies for individuals with visual impairments, with an emphasis on real-world mobility and accessibility. Dr. Amini has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and has led and contributed to multiple externally funded projects at the intersection of accessibility, wearable computing, and human-centered technology design. He previously served as a Co-Investigator on a National Eye Institute (NIH NEI)-funded project related to low-vision rehabilitation and glaucoma research. His work has received innovation and technology awards for its translational impact in accessibility and healthcare, and he also serves in editorial and peer-review roles for journals in computing, biomedical informatics, and digital health.
