Biography
Dr. Bingrui Wang’s research background is in engineering mechanics, with her master’s studies focusing on modeling composite materials and fiber reinforcement. Her doctoral research transitioned to biomechanics, examining the interactions between surgical clamps and biological tissues to assess injury risks. During her PhD, she joined Dr. Ian A. Sigal’s Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics as a visiting student, where she developed a fiber model for the sclera based on its collagen structure. After completing her PhD, she returned to the Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics as a postdoctoral associate in 2021, focusing on digital volume correlation (DVC) for optic nerve head biomechanics. In 2022, she began developing the axon-centric method and integrating it with DVC. Her long-term goal is to become an independent researcher with a comprehensive understanding of glaucoma.
