Biography
Tatjana Jakobs earned her MD from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany. After spending two years at the University of Nagasaki, Japan, working on human genetics, she joined the laboratory of Dr. Richard Masland at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she studied retinal ganglion cells, particularly in glaucoma. Since 2011, her laboratory has been at Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass Eye and Ear. The lab uses molecular and cell biology, imaging, and animal models to investigate the role of glial cells in the glaucomatous degeneration of ganglion cells.
