Biography
Dr. Sunghee Estelle Park is an Assistant Professor in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, where she leads a multidisciplinary research program focused on stem cell bioengineering, organoid technology, and organ-on-a-chip systems. Her laboratory develops human microphysiological platforms that model organ function and inter-organ communication to investigate how metabolic and inflammatory pathways contribute to aging and disease. Dr. Park’s work integrates human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived organoids, microfluidic engineering, and systems-level analysis to study metabolism, complement biology, and tissue degeneration in physiologically relevant human models.
She has published more than 20 peer-reviewed research papers, including articles in Science, Nature Methods, and ACS Nano, and has contributed foundational advances in organoids-on-a-chip technologies. In addition to her research, Dr. Park is actively engaged in scientific mentoring, education, and service through national and international organizations that support early-career scientists and promote diversity in STEM.
