Biography
Dr. Monica Vetter (PI) is Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah. She earned her BSc from McGill University, and her PhD from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), then completed her postdoctoral training at UCSF before joining the University of Utah faculty. She has served as department chair since 2008. Dr. Vetter’s laboratory is focused on understanding the molecular pathways controlling development and degeneration in the retina. Her team is examining the role of microglia and innate immunity pathways in remodeling retinal ganglion cells in glaucoma. Dr. Vetter served on the National Eye Advisory Council, and as a standing member and chair of the Biology and Development of the Eye Study Section (BDE). She has served on the Scientific Advisory Board for Catalyst for a Cure 2 and currently for the Catalyst for a Cure 4 consortium for the Glaucoma Research Foundation. She has been elected to the Glaucoma Research Society.
