Biography

Dr. Mohajeet B Bhuckory is a biomedical researcher in the department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University. He received his PhD in ophthalmology research from Queen’s University Belfast and completed his postdoctoral training at Stanford University. His current work focusses on developing next-generation retinal prosthetic devices to restore vision in patients with macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. He aims to develop electronic photoreceptors that mimic natural photoreceptor function and interact with the remaining retinal neurons at a cellular level. He has authored multiple publications on therapies to rescue photoreceptors and to restore vision after complete photoreceptor loss, for which he received the Pascal Rol nomination at SPIE2025 and the POV award at ARVO2025. With his BrightFocus Foundation New Investigator Award in Macular Degeneration, Dr. Bhuckory will continue his independent research in high-resolution prosthetic devices. Dr. Bhuckory is also passionate about mentoring and committed to advancing the accessibility of visual prosthetic technologies to all patients in need.
