BBB Wise Giving Alliance

BrightFocus Foundation meets all twenty standards for charity accountability and has been approved by the Wise Giving Alliance of the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

The BBB evaluated BrightFocus' governance, fundraising practices, solicitations, informational materials, and how well the organization spends its money. Only charities that meet the BBB's strong and comprehensive standards may display their seal.

Maryland Nonprofits' Standards for Excellence

Candid Platinum Transparency 2022 Seal

BrightFocus Foundation has earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by Candid (formerly GuideStar).

Platinum members are acknowledged for sharing detailed information concerning their program results, budget, impact, senior management team members, and key documents, such as the audited financial statements and annual report.

Charity Navigator

BrightFocus Foundation and its research programs Alzheimer's Disease Research, Macular Degeneration Research, and National Glaucoma Research, have a four-star rating on Charity Navigator. BrightFocus earned 96 out of 100 points, designating the nonprofit organization as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, indicating effective use of donations based on Charity Navigator’s criteria.

BrightFocus is a member of and in compliance with the Direct Marketing Association's Guidelines for Ethical Business Practice and other DMA standards for nonprofit organizations
