Herbert L. Drayton III is the managing partner of HI Mark Capital. HI Mark Capital invests in BIPOC [Black, Indigenous, and People of Color] and women-owned tech-enabled businesses in the Southeast, seeking both a financial return as well as a social impact. He has enjoyed nearly 30 years of experience establishing, buying, and selling businesses in a variety of industries including healthcare, IT, software, and corporate training.

Herbert is passionate about community service and civic leadership in this region. He is the chair of the board of directors for Coastal Community Foundation, the largest community foundation in South Carolina serving all nine counties on the coast, providing nearly $20 million in grants and scholarships on an annual basis. He is also chair of the board of directors for Palmetto Goodwill. Palmetto Goodwill’s mission is committed to changing lives in 18 South Carolina counties by providing equitable access to training, education, and employment opportunities.

Herbert also serves on the board of directors of Roper St Francis Hospital Foundation and the Association of Black Foundation Executives. He is an advisory board member for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Access to Capital Committee and St. Francis Hospital.

Herbert has two adult children (Kariesha and Jordan) and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
