BrightFocus Foundation provided a free special screening of the award-winning documentary, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. The movie followed the life and career of one of the world’s best-selling artists as she embracesd genres spanning rock, country, operetta and Latin and paved the way to become an iconic female pioneer in the male-dominated music world.
Illustrated with concert footage, interviews with musical legends including Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, Aaron Neville, and narrated by Ronstadt herself, the film documents a remarkable career that was ended early due to a neurodegenerative disease. Before the screening, there was an opportunity to meet innovative BrightFocus-funded scientists working tirelessly to end diseases of mind and sight.
The online event took place between June 4 and June 10, 2020.
