Researchers want to hear from you.

Macular Degeneration Research, a BrightFocus Foundation program, is partnering with Global Perspectives, a healthcare research firm, to conduct an interview study among people diagnosed with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The purpose of this study is to learn more about the experiences of patients living with dry AMD.

We are looking for people with dry AMD aged 50 or older in the United States to participate in a 15-minute online survey and 60-minute telephone interview.

Please note that you will be asked to provide a Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA) measurement (and preferably have documentation from a doctor [e.g., doctor’s note, screenshot from health app] reporting the score) from your most recent eye exam from any time after your diagnosis with dry AMD during the phone call to determine your eligibility for the study.

BCVA is a measure collected at eye exams that assesses the clarity of vision while wearing eye glasses or contact lenses or after having laser surgery. For example, a person with reduced vision may have a BCVA of 20/60, meaning that the person must be 20 feet away to see what a person with normal vision can see from 60 feet away. Please have this information ready before we speak with you. If you have any other BCVA measurements from earlier eye exams, please also have this information ready.

Once we confirm your eligibility, you will be invited to a one-time telephone interview to talk about your vision health, quality of life, and daily activities affected by your vision health. The interview will last around 60 minutes and will be audio-recorded.

If you qualify for this study and complete the interview, you would be compensated with USD125 as a token of appreciation for your time.
