Dr. Guy Eakin:

Hello, I'm Dr. Guy Eakin and today I'm talking about Alzheimer disease. A devastating and debilitating disease that robs people of their memory. It is a progressive and incurable brain disorder. Currently more than 5 million Americans are affected by Alzheimer's and another thousand are diagnosed with the disease everyday that's one every 70 seconds.

As America's baby boomers continue to age, experts predict that more than 15 million Americans will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's by the year 2050. This progressive brain disorder creates a major economic drain on the US economy with over $100 billion a year in healthcare cost and loss caregiver and patient wages. The emotional and physical toll on families as they struggle with around-the-clock care giving is enormous.

Our organization is dedicated to funding research for age-related diseases like Alzheimer's, as well as macular degeneration and glaucoma. We also provide public information and answer your questions on our website.
