Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator
Reports to Sr. Dir. Corporate and Foundation Relations

Summary of Position
The Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator reports to the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (SDCFR) and will assist in building and implementing a strong corporate and foundation fundraising and outreach strategy.

Duties, Responsibilities and Functions

  • Manage the grant development process (for corporate and foundation grant applications) from start to finish, including drafting compelling letters of inquiry and full proposals from existing sources, ensuring communications are submitted on time, and following up with phone calls and emails as necessary.
  • Maintain grant database to track proposal deadlines, submissions, follow up, etc.
  • Manage timeline, determine strategy and response to grantees for reporting results/impact of funded projects.
  • Researches, qualifies, rates, and provides strategic advice and analysis of identified Corp. & Foundation prospects with the capacity and inclination to support the BrightFocus mission through grant opportunities
  • Update boilerplate materials and identify potential items of interest to be included in email blasts in coordination with Communications staff.
  • Support Public Affairs staff on development of new programs targeting specific funding opportunities.
  • Cultivate, manage, and steward relationships with potential and current funders.
  • Manage BrightFocus involvement in the Combined Federal Campaign and other employee giving programs including evaluating and selecting federated groups for participation, developing budget and strategy, and working with Public Affairs to schedule and attend events
  • Manage logistical planning for donor cultivation events.
  • Perform other special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree is required, advanced degree or 2-3 years of fundraising experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, database experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed, while also able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • High energy, good work-life balance.
  • Willing to travel as needed.

Major Gifts Officer
Reports to Senior Director, Major and Planned Gifts

Summary of Position
The Gifts Officer will have strong fundraising skills with a track record of securing gifts in the five-figure range preferably within the health sector from individuals. He/she will be a self-starter by nature, with a resourceful and entrepreneurial spirit and a high comfort level with donors. This person is detail-oriented, possesses excellent written and oral communication skills, and is able to handle multiple priorities.

He/she understands how achievement of fundraising goals and metrics is a reflection of time and resource allocations, as well as the ability to connect with and understand donor motivations for giving. The successful candidate will be experienced in prospect research, moves management, arranging and executing timely cultivation visits, as well as developing proposals and materials for prospects.

Duties, Responsibilities and Functions

  • Become acquainted with a minimum of 200-250 individuals with the capacity to give a major gift.
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects.
  • Steward new and existing donors.
  • Handle details of cultivation events.
  • Contact major donors through phone calls and visits (local and nationwide) as required.
  • Work with department prospect researcher to identify appropriate prospects and create outreach strategy.
  • Independently manage travel details and planning.
  • Ability to partner and collaborate with staff at all levels.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years development or related experience
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts
  • Comfortable with regularly making cold calls to schedule appointments
  • Significant local and nationwide travel required
  • Familiarity with planned giving desirable
  • Professional demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
